Katherine Koehler was born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri with her parents and three siblings. She began to explore metalsmithing while earning her BA in History at the University of Oregon. Her professional career began on the line of a small jewelry manufacturer in Portland, OR, but she soon opened her own studio. She moved her studio to Manhattan prior to entering the Master of Fine Arts in Jewelry & Metalsmithing program at the Rhode Island School of Design. Presently she lives in Manhattan with her husband Scott and maintains a studio in Tribeca.
Through her work, Katherine tries to examine and abstract the mundane and the beautiful in everyday life in an attempt to understand and communicate her view of the world.
